Granite Portaledge XE Strap Mount Review
In this article, we review the Granite Portaledge XE Strap Mount. The Portaledge turns your unused bottle-bosses into a lightweight, rock-solid, and kind-on-paint stash for your essentials. With room for a tube, CO2, and tyre levers it guarantees you’ll never be left stranded on the trails.
Portaledge XE Features
- Portaledge weighs just 50g and mounts alongside your water bottle cage.
- With room for a tube, CO2 and tyre levers it guarantees you’ll never be left stranded on the trails.
- Simply bolt the plate in place and use the strap to quickly and easily stash your must-have essentials on your frame.
- Requires a fist-sized space behind your water bottle in order to fit.
- Made up of a tough AL6061 alloy plate with 30mm silicone-coated hook and loop strap.
The Granite Portaledge XE is a cleaver on-bike storage solution enabling you to use one frame boss for both a water bottle cage and storage. Just use your frame boss bolts to attach the Portaledge to your frame and then use the included small bolts to mount your bottle cage or other devices to the Portaledge.
The product comes with a high-quality velcro strap that has grippy rubber to keep everything snug and secure even over the roughest of trails.
The only downside to this product is that it may not fit on your frame if you have a frame with limited space. This tends to be quite common with some full-suspension bikes that don’t even have room for a water bottle. However, Granite has a solution to this with their other product the Portaledge. This smaller product doesn’t have an extra boss for a water bottle but still enables you to carry your tools and inner tube similar to the 76 Projects Micro Piggy we also reviewed.
The Portaledge is easy to fit. Has rubber padding to protect your frame, is really well made, and comes in different colors. I really like this product and will use it on my bikes that have the space for it.
What do you think of the Granite Designs Portaledge XE? Do you like the idea of being able to use one frame boss for both a water bottle and on-bike storage? Personally, I think this is a great idea if you have the room on your frame to allow for it.
