Why go tubeless?
So you know how to install a Tubeless Tyre Setup, but why should you go tubeless?
Well, there are a few great reasons to ditch the tubes and go tubeless. Here is a list:
- No more flat tyres and punctures. Tubeless tyres use a sealant that will self heal and plug the hole in your tyres without you needing to anything in most circumstances.
- You can run lower tyre pressures as there is no risk of getting a pinch flat which is all to common with inner tubes.
- Running lower tyres pressures means more grip. More grip means you can ride faster, and brake more efficiently. A harder tyre doesn’t always mean you will go faster in fact most of the time it will make you go slower.
- It’s lighter. As long as you don’t use too much sealant, chances are your bike will be lighter as there are no more heavy inner tubes. This is especially noticeable as you want less rotational weight.
What you will need
- Tubeless-compatible tyres and rims
- Tubeless sealant – Stan’s in our case
- Rim Tape (the correct width for your rim)
- Tubeless valve (the correct length for your rim – some road bike rims may require a longer valve)
- Scissors or Knife
- A sharp Pick
- Valve Core Remover or needle-nose pliers
- Tyre Levers
- Air compressor or High-Pressure Track Pump
