YT Industries Launch two new Aluminium Capra Bikes

Aluminium bikes are certainly not dead and YT Industries agrees as they announce two new Aluminium Capra bikes. Aimed at Enduro these two new bikes offer durability and still have all the same geometry and steeze as there carbon fibre siblings.

YT’s CAPRA has been an object of desire in the world of mountain biking for the past seven years. The calls for aluminium frames are still louder than ever, which is why YT has released two new options based on cold, hard metal for enduro riders around the globe.

CAPRA Pro AL & Base AL – Send it to the moon in all possible conditions

Durable, high-performance aluminium frames are highly popular in the gravity riding scene. YT is responding to this demand with two new CAPRA models built around hydroformed aluminium frames with a race-ready geometry and spec. Both the CAPRA Pro AL and Base AL will be available with a 29- and 27.5-inch option and frame sizes range from S/M to XXL depending on the wheel size. The short seat tube makes it possible to choose the frame size according to personal taste. The CAPRA is an uncompromising beast that chews through every rock, root, and rut. Whether you prefer to send it over massive hits in the bike park or down gnarly trails in the great outdoors both the CAPRA Pro AL and Base AL models offer unlimited performance when you head back down into the valley. The CAPRA is also a capable climber, meaning you’ll have plenty of juice left in the tank so you can rip down the mountain for another gravity-fed rush of adrenaline.

The CAPRA is the most popular bike in our range. We are stoked to offer these aluminum frame options to riders around the world. The CAPRA Pro caters to demanding riders who like to dial their bike to the finest detail, while the CAPRA Base allows a rider to hop on carefree and have plenty of GOOD TIMES without putting too much thought into it. We expect the overall stock availability to improve as the year continues. Our team is working incredibly hard to satisfy the demand and to make lead times as short as possible. Current availability dates can always be found on the website for each model.”

GEOMETRY & SPEC

The geometry of the CAPRA is designed to deliver gravity-greedy performance downhill. Both the CAPRA Pro AL and Base AL boast the same high-performance aluminium frame with a long reach and a slack head angle that emphasizes the focus on an adrenaline-filled experience. Thanks to both a 29- inch and 27-inch wheel size option the rider can choose between more confidence and stability or more playfulness and agility on the trail. Either way, each CAPRA will allow you to comfortably reach the top of every mountain thanks to a seat tube angle that provides a balanced seated position on the bike.

Depending on the wheel size, the CAPRA Pro AL comes with 170mm or 180mm of travel front and rear courtesy of the FOX 38 Float Performance Elite and heavy-duty FOX Float DPX2 Performance Elite. The highly reliable SRAM GX Eagle drivetrain groupset with 10-52T ensures precise shifting while the extended 520% range simplifies every climb and ensures you have even more power left to send it back down the mountain again. The CAPRA Base AL 29 and CAPRA Base AL boast the same travel front and rear thanks to the RockShox ZEB fork and RockShox Super Deluxe rear shock.

The SRAM SX Eagle drivetrain groupset will make sure you find the right gear at the right time. Both Pro and Base models spec SRAM Code R brakes that deliver perfect modulation. You will never find yourself lacking the power to stop thanks to 200 mm Centerline rotors both front and rear. The DT Swiss E 1900 SPLINE wheelset is ready to take the biggest hits out there, while MAXXIS Assegai and MAXXIS Minion DHRII deliver perfect traction for those berms and steep track sections.

This bike is built for riders that love aluminium frames and focus on the downhill. It delivers all the performance needed to have the best day out on the bike.

What do you make of the two new Aluminium Capra bikes from YT Industries? Do you still look at Aluminium bikes when purchasing a new frame? Do you still ride an Aluminium bike?

I personally own both Carbon and Aluminium frames and I think Aluminium is an overlooked material and carbon is often overrated. Weight saving isn’t everything and often having a more durable frame is more important. I would seriously consider buying another aluminium frame in the future.
