Nukeproof Horizon V2 Carbon Riser Bar

In this review, we take a close look at the Nukeproof Horizon V2 Carbon Handle Bars.

The Nukeproof Horizon V2 Carbon Riser Bar is an update on the V1. The new design is lighter than its predecessor and also offers a 35mm clamp option too. The bars come in three heights (12mm, 25mm and 38mm), two widths (780mm and 800mm) and all bars feature 5° upsweep and 9° of backsweep.

“This riser bar features an updated design with a unique offset profile. Nukeproof feel that 9deg backsweep is the most ergonomic angle for your wrists but the trade-off is you will lose some reach. This unique profile allows you to have a 9 deg backsweep but without reducing reach as you would get on a standard bar. One final highlight is it comes complete with a 31.8mm clamp and technical markings on the top, which means you can easily set up the Nukeproof Horizon V2 Carbon Riser Bar 31.8mm while sitting on your bike.”

Nukeproof Horizon V2 Carbon Handlebars Review

The first impression of the Nukeproof Horizon V2 Bars is that they look really nice. They have a really glossy premium look and feel to them. I opted for the 25mm rise which I find is a happy medium between the two sizes on offer.

The Horizon V2 handlebars feel stiff but don’t vibrate which is one of the main causes of fatigue. The bars aren’t as flexible as some other bars on the market where the flex is designed to further reduce arm-pump but these still feel great even on long days in the saddle.

The bars have nice grippy textured areas where things clamp to them such as the stem, brakes, levers, and grips. No need to use any messy carbon paste here as Nukeproof already have you covered.

Riding with these bars has been a pleasure. Yes, they are quite stiff and don’t have much flex which you might find on other premium carbon bars but they don’t vibrate either. They have a nice dull feel to them which sounds like a negative but when it comes to bars this is a good thing. Reducing vibrations will reduce fatigue and arm-pump.

I would recommend these bars as a great carbon bar at a great price. If you want a bar with more flex then you may want to look elsewhere.
