Matt Stuttard’s Privateer 161 Bike Check

In this bike check, we take a closer look at Matt Stuttard’s Privateer 161. Privateer don’t claim to be innovators for utilizing professional athletes to help them develop their products. However, when they had the opportunity to gain feedback and input from one of the world’s fastest racers, they jumped on the chance. The 161 is an out and out EWS race weapon, so it was imperative to develop it with the guidance of a rider racing at the highest level. The 161 would not be the bike it is without the help and input of Matt Stuttard. He put it to good use this season with an 8th place result in Zermatt, along with a hammering throughout tough races in Italy.

Anyone who has ever spent any time with Matt will know that he is very particular about his bike, so even the smallest details were considered, such as where the cables mounted on the headtube to allow for a cleanly mounted number board.

Have a look at the video below and find out a bit more of Matt’s setup for this year. Being a Privateer, Matt doesn’t have sponsorship requirements of a factory team, allowing him to run whichever parts he wants. You might spot some things a little out of the ordinary.

Framesets are available for pre-order now, so you can build up a race-ready bike just like Matt’s. Click here for more information.
