My Transition Throttle Hardtail
This is my Transition Throttle carbon hardtail mountain bike.
A Dream Bike Build
I was extremely lucky to be able to get my dirty little mitts on this bike. Not only was it built by pro bike builded extraordinaire Matthew Allingham (The Bicycle Service / MTB Cycle Exchange) but it also originally belonged to Pro MTB Downhill Legend/Athlete Tahnee Seagrave. You can check out her Redbull profile here.
This explains all the high-end parts and women’s saddle.
How is it to race?
This bike was not designed for racing enduro. Transition Bikes designed it as a trail bike that you can throw around like a 4x or jump bike. However, this didn’t stop me from racing it at both the Southern Enduro and Pedalhounds series in 2019.
It's Podium Spec
The bike performed really well and I managed to get multiple podiums at both Pedalhounds and Southern Enduro. I also manage to win the overall hardtail category for Pedalhounds and achieved second place at Southern.
So the answer is that this bike is great for racing however, I admit I did struggle at some of the steeper gnarlier events as the bike is quite short and steep in comparison to some of the more aggressive enduro hardtails popping up.
Does it shred?
This bike really does shred. My skills don’t even come close to the limits of this bikes potential. The bike is so light and nimble you barely notice that there is a bike there at all. It’s easy to keep up with people of a full enduro rig.
In the video opposite is an example of me following Double Drop team rider Tony Hillier on his Transition Bikes Carbon Patrol at QECP in Hampshire UK.
Want your own dream bike?
Cycle Exchange based in Kingston are not only Transition Bike dealers but are fantastic custom bike builders and have a full workshop. Matthew Allingham who is the go to guy for a custom bike build was also both Tahnee Seagrave’s and Matt Walker’s world cup downhill mechanic. So it goes without saying that he know’s his stuff.
