Granite Talon Tyre Levers Review

In this review, we take a look at the Talon Tyre Levers from Granite Design. These clever little levers double up as a chain breaker tool and even have space for you to store a chain quick link.

The Talon is a brand new tyre lever and quick-link tool. It’s super light at just 40g, small enough to strap to your frame or stash in a pocket and tough enough to go the distance. The tool works with 9 to 12-speed quick-links and chains.

The Talon’s two pieces clip together to form a neat tool for breaking and fixing quick-links on chains. It pairs super-strong fibre-reinforced nylon levers and stainless-steel tips. There’s also room to store a spare quick-link so you’re never left in a jam.=

Unclip the Talon and you’ve got two sturdy tyre levers to help fix those annoying punctures on the trails. It’s tough enough for all but the stiffest of tyres but, thanks to the nylon material, won’t ruin those expensive carbon rims.

The Talon Tyre levers from Granite offer more than most other tyre levers on the market. What makes these levers stand out from the competition is that they double up as a chain removal tool and also allow you to safely store a chain link.

The Talon Levers are made from strong durable nylon and feature stainless steel tips. The levers themselves work really nicely and because they are nylon they are strong enough to work on the most stubborn tyres yet won’t damage your rim like metal levers might. The levers have a catch which will grab onto a spoke so you can lever the lever in place whilst using the other lever to work another section of the tyre.

By combining the two tyre levers you create a chain break tool. This is very easy to use. Just use the stainless steel tips (Talons) either side of the quick link and squeeze to undo the links. As there are no sharp edges on the Talon this is easy to do as the levers are ergonomically designed.

To store a quick link is very easy. Just push the links into the holes and they will be held in place securely by the Talon Tyre Lever tool.

It’s nice to see Granite thinking out of the box and creating a product that does multiple jobs well. This reduces the number of tools you need to take with you on a ride so you can just get on your bike and have fun.

Priced at only £10.99 these do not break the bank and are still competitive with more traditional levers.

The Talon Lever works great with our Skull Enduro Frame Strap available in our online store.
